Windows, Linux, Mac Forum Aide informatique - Vista gives me "Local Only" "Unidentified" network, and a giant headache spadekevin (24 articles pour l'instant) | | Hello,
I built a new desktop with Vista x64. Inside is an Intel G43-based motherboard (Gigabyte), which has onboard Gig-E (Realtek). I also got a Wi-fi PCI adapter (TrendNet). My router is a Buffalo 54G model with the latest stable dd-wrt open firmware installed (it works perfectly with two Windows XP laptops, and has for more than a year). The computer has been pretty unstable, bluescreening on a daily basis with various errors with little apparent pattern. The computer has very little inside already, so I decided to try to narrow it down by disabling the PCI Wi-fi card.
But then I found that the wired connection doesn't work in Vista. More specifically, it connects, but then fails to obtain a DHCP lease or something, shows up as "Local Only" access, as "Unidentified", and as a "Public" network. I hit "Customize" and changed it to "Private," but still it thinks it can't see the internet.
Any help will be apprecited.
I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
